APC Election Disputes: PPRC Sets Deadline for Petitions Against IECB Rulings
Sahid Bangura The Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC) has announced a deadline for the submission of petitions challenging rulings by the All People’s Congress (APC) Internal Elections Complaint Board (IECB).
According to a notice issued on Monday, September 7, petitioners must submit their complaints to the Commission by Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at 4:45 p.m.
The PPRC said hearings for all petitions would take place on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at its Conference Hall on OAU Drive, Tower Hill, Freetown.
Representatives of the IECB, the Independent Elections Management Committee (IEMC), petitioners and other relevant stakeholders have been invited to attend the proceedings.
The announcement comes amid ongoing disputes arising from the APC’s internal electoral process, with the PPRC previously reviewing petitions involving ward-level elections and issuing decisions that upheld some results, overturned others and ordered reruns in selected wards.
In a separate notice, the Commission announced the deregistration of the National Progressive Democrat (NPD) Party, effective Monday, September 7, 2026, following repeated warnings over alleged violations of the Political Parties Act 2022.
The PPRC has consequently advised institutions and other stakeholders to refrain from conducting political activities with members of the deregistered party.
The Commission said the announcements form part of its mandate to regulate political parties and ensure compliance with Sierra Leone’s legal and statutory requirements.
