The 21-man Interim Transitional Governance Committee (ITGC) of the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) has, last week, released the new rules and regulations for the conduct of the party primary elections, starting from the lower-level elections to that of national executive officers of the party and the 2023 presidential flagbearer of the party.

The said rules and regulations have been reportedly handed over to the Political Parties Registration Commission (PPRC), who has up to 7 days to gazette and approve the new document before it will become usable as ordered the court.

The Exclusive Newspaper revealed that  Unlike other lower level and internal elections in the APC that were conducted without any financial burden on candidates, the Committee has, this time round decided to include financial expression of interest for all candidates who want to vie for the various National Executive positions and the flagbearer of the party.

According to the new APC rules and regulations, candidates who want to vie for the position of 2023 presidential flagbearer of the party must pay non refundable fee of five hundred million Leones (Le500M), whilst those who want man must pay a fee of one hundred million Leones (Le100M) and the

Deputy National Chairman and National Secretary General the sum of fifty million Leones each. For other national officer positions, candidates must pay five million Leones (Le5M), for the positions for non-executive elected members, five hundred thousand Leones (Le 2.5 million).

The new rules and regulation further stated that candidates who want to vie for Deputy National Officers and Re-gional Chairperson should pay Le 2.5 million.

each and other regional positions must pay Le 1 million.

Candidates for all Deputy Regional positions should pay Le 500,000 whilst those running for the National Women Leader should pay Le 5 million.

For all other substantive women congress position, candidates should pay Le 1 milllon and all those going for Deputy National Women Congress position pay Le 500,000.

In the area of District branch Chairmanship, candidates must pay Le 3 million and for other district/branch executive positions candidate must pay Le 1 Le million, whilst deputies must pay Le 500,000.

For Constituency/Chapter Chairman, candidates are required to pay Le – 500,000 and for all other constituency position, candidates must pay Le 200,000 and Le 50,000 for other positions.
