The All People’s Congress (APC) UK and Ireland district has announced the passing of Dr. Adu Aezick Seray-Wurie, a senior and highly respected member of the party.

Dr. Seray-Wurie passed away in the early hours of Monday, February 17, 2025, at his London residence.

The announcement, released by Hassan Marah, Head of Secretariat, expressed profound sadness at the loss of a “true definition of an APCian.” Dr. Seray-Wurie was described as a distinguished leader, statesman, and community advocate who dedicated his life to serving Sierra Leoneans both at home and abroad.

Dr. Seray-Wurie’s extensive service to the APC included being the first elected Secretary-General of the APC National Youth League, a member of the APC Central Committee, and Vice President of the APC UK and Ireland Branch from 1982 to 1992. He was also appointed Chairman of the Pilgrimage Committee in 1974 by Sierra Leone’s first president, Dr. Siaka Stevens.

Beyond his party contributions, Dr. Seray-Wurie was a respected statesman, championing interfaith collaboration and regional cooperation. He served as Deputy Secretary-General of the Mano River Union (MRU) and was an active member of the Sierra Leone Muslim Congress (SLMC).

“His unwavering dedication to public service, youth empowerment, and community development will forever be remembered,” the announcement stated. “Senior Comrade Dr. Seray-Wurie exemplified compassion, integrity, and service leadership. His contributions have left an indelible mark on the lives of many in the APC UK/Ireland and the APC Global Family.”

The APC UK/Ireland district extended its condolences to Dr. Seray-Wurie’s family, friends, and the wider APC community. His siblings, Alieu Tejan Jalloh and Haja Maimunata Seray-Wurie, have expressed their wish for the APC to play a significant role in his funeral arrangements, ensuring a fitting farewell.
