The All People’s Congress (APC) has criticized the Coalition for Change (C4C) member of parliament, Saa Emerson Lamina for accusations made against their party.

Lamina was recorded to have accused the European Union of meddling with the politics of Sierra Leone. The C4C MP also made allegations at a gathering of MPs in Brussels last month that the EU Ambassador to Sierra Leone is working with the APC.

The EU reacted the following day the accusations were made refuting them and affirming that they only support the nation’s democracy and not meddle in the politics of the West African nation.

The APC, in a similar stance, refuted the allegations made by Lamina equating them to “lies and frivolities with an indication for nothing but mischief-making”.

They also accused Lamina to be working in the guise of another agent because of his criticism of Constituency 056 by-election in Tonkolili District, Northern Sierra Leone.

The party did not deny that they have a “working” relationship with the EU while in governance and also now in opposition.

We appreciate the EU for the role it is playing in our socio-economic development and for their objectivity in ensuring that our democracy is upheld and our nation’s priceless peace maintained,” the party wrote in a press release issued yesterday.

Sierra Leone will go to the polls on 24 June this year in a multi-tier election. Candidates of both the incumbent Sierra Leone People’s Party and the APC will be facing each other for the second time.
