President Julius Maada Bio has boasted that Kono is his stronghold, raising his confidence for the upcoming elections on June 24, 2023.

The President made this assertion during his campaign tour in the eastern region district on Saturday, as we received an overwhelming turnout and enthusiastic reception from residents.

President Bio also boldly predicted a resounding defeat for the main opposition APC party in the Kono district.

But as always, members of the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) party have foreseen defeats. We will beat them mercilessly in the elections,” he told his audience who responded with a thunderous shout of joy.

Addressing the jubilant crowd, President Bio assured the people of Kono that he would continue to prioritize their well-being. He reminded them of his previous promises to improve their living standards and proudly declared that he had exceeded their expectations since taking office in 2018.

The President highlighted his government’s efforts in providing educational support, such as paying tuition fees, supplying teaching materials, covering external examination fees, and even funding result-checking scratch cards for pupils.

He further noted a significant reduction in teenage pregnancies among girls in schools, emphasizing their improved academic performance both in public exams and tertiary institutions.

President Bio also took pride in restoring Sierra Leone’s lost respect on the global stage. He highlighted the country’s return to the non-permanent seat of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) after 53 years, attributing this achievement to his leadership. The President assured the crowd that their support for the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP)-led government would bring long-lasting benefits.

He promised continued transformation and development in Kono during his second term, which ignited joyous celebrations among the attendees.

In his closing remarks, President Bio urged the people of Kono to turn out in large numbers on election day and cast their overwhelming votes for the SLPP. He stressed that a complete SLPP lineup in Kono would bolster further development in the district.
