Arrangements for the repatriation of the remains of the late All People’s Congress (APC) National Chairman, Alhaji Minkailu Mansaray, have been completed in Dakar, Senegal, according to Opposition Leader in Parliament, Hon. Abdul Kargbo.
In a statement shared on social media on 16 June 2026, Kargbo said he and Hon. Saa Emerson Lamina, Deputy Leader 2 of Government Business in Parliament, met with Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to Senegal at the Embassy before proceeding to the mortuary where Mansaray’s remains are being preserved.
The delegation also met with the deceased’s wife, Mrs. Kay Mansaray. Kargbo said they formally identified the body and witnessed the sealing of the coffin to ensure that required procedures were observed.
“The corpse of our late Chairman is scheduled to arrive at the airport on Friday at 4:30 p.m. I will also arrive in Sierra Leone on the same day at 7:30 a.m. to make the necessary preparations ahead of its arrival and to receive it at the airport,” Kargbo stated.
He added that the APC leadership is working closely with the Government of Sierra Leone and other relevant authorities to ensure a smooth and dignified return of the late party leader.
Alhaji Minkailu Mansaray died in Dakar after a period of illness. His passing has drawn tributes from across Sierra Leone’s political spectrum. The remains are expected to be received in Freetown by family members, party supporters, government officials, and well-wishers.
