Former President Ernest Bai Koroma at a meeting with associate groups and grassroots of the All Peoples Congress (APC) in Makeni on last Friday told his audience that he is a retired President and was not campaigning but, on behalf of his party, will exercise his right to do so in the 2023 elections.

The former President disclosed that he would no longer continue to serve the party as Chairman or Leader because he has lots on the plate. Ernest commended the party’s associate groups and the grassroots for appreciating him and standing firmly with the party, especially since its defeat in the 2018 elections while calling on them to vote and protest their votes, which according to him, will see APC back to power come 2023. The huge challenge, he said, which the party will have after 2023 elections would be how to remove Sierra Leonie form the hole she finds herself and return her to normal. Ernest heavily criticized the current government for depending more on what he considers as propaganda that working in the interest of the people. He further decried the government for called the past government officials’ thieves and criminals. This government, he furthered, is here to wipe out all what they party has done, giving the impression that APC did not work before 2018.

Ernest further highlighted developments strides that the former government carried out that this government has refused to acknowledge, whist comparing what the cost of basic essential commodities and the cost of living was at the time they left power in 2018 compared to now.

According to The Exclusive Newspaper, Ernest, who refused to give a definite answer on the request for him to remain the party’s leadership position, maintained that APC has now got a new constitution; and that the party has lots of good people capable of providing it with another good leader, stressing that party members and supporters should honor and respect the Constitution.

Meanwhile, Ernest reiterated that APC will win the 2023 election with strong determination and commitment from members and supporters and noted that at the end of the day APC will celebrate.
