Some disgruntled youths of the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party have complained to First Lady, Fatima Bio about the current economic situation they are faced since her husband came to power.

The youths made this complain to the First Lady last week Friday during a meeting organised by Julius Maada Bio Babes (JMB) at the Richard Allen Secondary School, East End part of the capital.

One of the disgruntled SLPP youths, Junisa Margai said that President Bio has not lived up their expectations, adding that the president has failed to transform the lives of youths across the country after faithfully promising them of a better life in the New Direction Manifesto.

He noted that since the SLPP took over governance most of the party’s loyal youths have been abandoned without jobs or scholarship to further their studies.

 

Josephine Gbondo, a female member of the SLPP youth wing said that most of her colleagues are planning to join the main opposite, All Peoples Congress (APC) due to the neglect they are facing at the hands of the SLPP government.

She added that come 2023 they will be ready to vote the SLPP out of governance if their current situation is not changed.

In her response to the complaints of the disgruntled SLPP youths, First Lady, Fatima Bio blamed the current serving SLPP ministers and head of institutions in the country for not providing jobs to the youths.

She added that there are cross section of party officials that are sabotaging the work of her husband.
Fatima Bio further highlighted the COVID-19 pandemic as one of the factors that contributed to the high unemployment rate in the country.

She called on the youths not to discourage by her husband’s leadership.

The First Lady promised to remind President Bio about the his promise to the youths, and ensure that he will fulfill them.
