First Lady Fatima Maada Bio joined Chairman Marrah and women of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) for the official launch of “Marrah Babes.”
The event, which took place at the Approved School Field in the eastern part of Freetown, drew thousands of enthusiastic supporters in a powerful demonstration of party unity and grassroots commitment.
The newly established organisation, Marrah Babes, is designed to amplify women’s voices and strengthen their active participation within the ranks of the ruling SLPP.

Addressing the massive crowd, the First Lady described the atmosphere as inspiring, noting that the sheer volume of attendees serves as a profound reminder that the true strength of any political movement lies in its connection to the grassroots and the people it serves.
A central highlight of the engagement was the First Lady’s reaffirmation of her commitment to the table banking initiative for market women.
“This project is designed to provide direct, interest-free financial support, helping hardworking women grow their businesses and improve their livelihoods without the burden of high-interest loans,” the First Lady noted.

The initiative aims to deliver immediate financial relief and sustainable growth avenues for market women, empowering them to bypass predatory lending practices.
Reflecting on the event, the First Lady expressed deep admiration for the resilience and determination of the women from all walks of life who filled the venue.
She emphasized that empowering women remains an essential cornerstone for building stronger families, more resilient communities, and a prosperous Sierra Leone. Moving forward, the First Lady reiterated her dedication to listening directly to the concerns of citizens and working collaboratively to create sustainable development opportunities across the nation.
