As political discussions intensify over Sierra Leone’s next presidential election, veteran journalist and politician Ibrahim Ben Kargbo has highlighted Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh as a leading candidate, citing his academic credentials, administrative experience, and loyalty to the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP).
In an effort to provide a balanced journalistic assessment, Kargbo has identified three leading politicians within the SLPP and three within the APC who he deems to be “Presidential materials.”
Kargbo initiated his assessment by focusing on the current Vice President, Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, noting his constitutional proximity to the highest office. Historically, no Vice President in Sierra Leone has succeeded an incumbent President, a “myth” that Dr. Jalloh is now in a position to potentially break.
According to Kargbo, Dr. Jalloh possesses impressive academic credentials, which he believes are essential for leadership in a modern state. Dr. Jalloh holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone; a Master of Science from Ibadan University, Nigeria; and a Ph.D. from the University of Bordeaux, France. Kargbo highlighted that Dr. Jalloh’s Ph.D. was earned through rigorous research and academic dedication, setting him apart from many African leaders who may only hold honorary doctorates.
Beyond academic prowess, Kargbo underscored the significance of administrative experience. Dr. Jalloh’s extensive background in international administration includes serving as a Senior Political Officer for the United Nations multi-national mission in Mali, and later as the UN Secretary General’s Special Representative for West Africa and Sahel. He also gained electoral administration experience as a UN election officer in Kosovo during challenging times and was recognized by the UN for his expertise in promoting good governance.
Kargbo asserted that this wealth of experience proved invaluable in Dr. Jalloh’s role as Vice President, particularly in handling sensitive government matters. “Of all the contenders for the Presidency, he is the only politician who, apart from President Bio, has actually performed Presidential duties, having acted as President close to forty times without negative repercussions,” Kargbo stated. He specifically cited Dr. Jalloh’s successful mobilization of security services to restore normalcy during the August 10 crisis while acting as President.
Among Dr. Jalloh’s notable achievements as Vice President, Kargbo credited him for leading the MCC Compact Development Unit, which secured a nearly $400,000 grant for Sierra Leone, despite its temporary suspension.
Kargbo concluded that Dr. Jalloh’s academic qualifications and extensive experience make him a strong contender for the presidency, urging the SLPP to consider him as a potent flag bearer.
Regarding Dr. Jalloh’s character and ability to foster peace and reconciliation, Kargbo described him as “the poor man’s friend” in his native Lokomasama Chiefdom in Port Loko District. He also noted Dr. Jalloh’s ties to Kono, where he spent his youth, and his schooling in Freetown, contributing to his “Sierra Leonean through and through” identity. Dr. Jalloh is also multilingual, fluent in French, English, Temne, and his native Fullah.
Kargbo described Dr. Jalloh as a highly respected family man with a “very polite” and dedicated wife.
Addressing Dr. Jalloh’s standing within the SLPP, Kargbo reported that many party members hold him in high esteem due to his demonstrated loyalty to the party and diligent service to President Julius Maada Bio, suggesting he is a strong candidate for future party leadership.
In his concluding remarks, Ibrahim Ben Kargbo emphasized the growing importance of experience in modern leadership, advocating for the mentorship of young potential leaders. He asserted that “very few can equal Dr. Juldeh Jalloh” in terms of experience, giving him a significant chance of becoming Sierra Leone’s next President.
Dr. Jalloh, according to Kargbo, has expressed appreciation for the SLPP’s opportunity to serve his country and the support received from President Bio and other government members. An unnamed experienced SLPP member reportedly stated, “The clear reason why I would support Dr. Juldeh Jalloh in any campaign for the leadership of the SLPP is because he possesses the great potential to unify this country and at the same time keep our party, the SLPP, intact.”
Waw
Ben kargbo you are not serious, because of Jalloh acquired a PhD is that the reason makes him to be the next cardinate for the slpp.
Just forget about that even if Mandela come back alive and stand for the slpp in sierra Leone he will never succeed because we are tired of slpp government.
Bio and his government should leave now enough is enough.
Ben kargbo please don’t repeat that nonsense again you are happy for the suffering of the people in sierra Leone but we the citizens are not happy.
Wishful thinking @daudakoroma. If we the right thinking voters decide and vote for the veep you are bound to feel the disappointment. It’s not too late to join the veep’s team. Veep Jalloh is the most qualified and experienced of all candidates from the two major parties I admire the dude’s humility
You will cry,Juldeh will never smell it.

We knew very well Sierra Leone and our people had been sold out to foreigners, but one thing I want every living being to know we will not sitting to see the lives of our people and our country handover to foreigners hands never and never will that happens. You can buy him and his whole family a village in Loko masama and gave him the whole world credits he can’t lead Sierra Leone to no success but to destruction. You guys just sold him a VP position, fullahs are misbehaving and beating up real citizens of Sierra Leone and drugs everywhere, what happened august 10 was unacceptable ordered to killed innocent people locked women because of putting their trousers down, while we seeing naked women on the beach and streets everyday? Once again Sierra Leone will never be rule by foreigners especially fullahs without borders to turn the country as Sharia law State. We knew all of them where they had been located as their home lands during the passed war in the country, only true Sierra Leoneans dyed because they have no other country to called their home, we seen Sierra Leoneans citizens beating up in Guinea, The Gambia, Senegal and Mali because they can’t speak fullah, mandiga, and french. Sierra Leone is not a farm land to reap and sow to foreign land. Juldeh jalloh as president of is a death penalty to all the true Sierra Leoneans.
Keep quiet, what do you knw about history? What do you knw about citizenship?
To Allah be the Glory Ameen. Mr IB Kargbo I will always live to respect. Ever since Ive known you, you have always been the same person as a father, a true states man, above all a respected and humble and loving Sierra Leonean and a professional journalist with a difference. You have said it all about DR. Juldeh Jalloh vice president of Sierra Leone. Every child born in Sierra Leone is a Sierra Leonean. Period. Those who disagree with your opinion about DR. Juldeh Jalloh , should read the constitution of Sierra Leone if they cannot read , let them make it known to us we will read it and explain in a simple term for them to understand instead of using vulgar language about your thorough assessment of Dr. Juldeh Jalloh. I hate to participate in society where people don’t have respect for elders. Lonta.
To Allah be the Glory Ameen. To Yamba Soco. You mentioned your Sierra Leonean brothers and sisters were given good beaten in Banjul the Gambia. Yes you are right about that but you forgot to mention the reason behind the merciless beaten. I don’t know if you ever lived in The Gambia but if you do you should be ashamed of yourself about your statement. The Smiling coast is open to all type of people. Gambian people are Gid fearing people. They are lovable people. They are full of respect to everyone the come across. Now let me dive into the beaten of your brothers and Sisters. The Gambia is a TAX BASE country.
The Law of the Land must be followed to the letter.
Your brothers are sisters that were beaten mercilessly as you alleged committed a crime against the country. When you commit a crime and the police invite you for questioning and you put up a fight with the police you will be dealt with accordingly. Every Sierra Leonean who was living in The Gambia peacefully will attest to what I have just explained in this forum. Please let us always be careful how we respond to someone’s comments or opinions because they are entitled to their opinions. A word for the wise is quite sufficient Lonta.
Just fuck off,norto salone.
We all know say na ten-ten years so SLPP dem ten dey kam end na APC dem yone ton.
