The recently elected flag bearer of Sierra Leone’s main opposition party, the All People’s Congress(APC), Samura Kamara will today choose his running mate for the 24 June 2023, general elections.

After Samura Kamara was overwhelmingly elected as the presidential candidate for the APC during the Makeni National Delegate Convention, most of the party supporters are anticipating who he will choose as his running mate.

Many prominent names have emerged to fill the APC running mate void. Popular names like Diana Konomanyi (former Local Government Minister), Madina Rahman (former Health Minister), Alhaji Sam Sumana (former Vice President), and a new popular name in the country, Alhaji Mohamed Kamara aka Jagaban.

All eyes and hears will be on the APC party today as to who their flag bearer will announce as his running mate for June’s general elections.

Kamara narrowly lost to then-opposition candidate President Julius Maada Bio in 2018. His party, however, has elected him to run again in the next presidential election, in which Maada Bio will seek to win a second term.
