APC’s Minkailu Koroma Rules Out Political Revenge Against SLPP

Alfred Minkailu Koroma, a senior member of the All People’s Congress (APC), has pledged that an APC government would not engage in political retaliation against members of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), while calling for stronger measures to combat tribalism.

Speaking on Wake Up Sierra Leone, Koroma said an APC administration would prioritise national development, build on existing achievements and respect human rights rather than target political opponents.

“If given the opportunity to govern, we will not pursue revenge or target members of the SLPP. We will build on their achievements, do more for Sierra Leoneans and uphold peace and respect for human rights,” he said.

His remarks come amid continued concerns about the influence of tribal identity in Sierra Leone’s political environment. He urged political leaders to promote national unity rather than exploit ethnic differences for political gain.

Koroma maintained that political opportunities, protection and access to national resources should not be determined by an individual’s ethnic background or political affiliation.

He also called on the Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC) to take disciplinary action against political parties that use tribal identity to attract supporters.

According to him, penalising political parties that engage in such practices would help discourage tribalism, promote political tolerance and strengthen national cohesion.

He emphasised the need for a political culture that respects diversity and guarantees equal treatment for all citizens, regardless of their ethnic or political affiliations.
