Musa Tarawally’s Lawyers Respond to Gevao’s Letter on SLPP Membership
Aaron Parker Lawyers representing Hon. Alhaji Musa Tarawally have responded to a letter from lawyer Hindolo M. Gevao concerning their client’s membership of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP).
In a letter dated September 28, 2026, Jessie M. Jengo Esq. of Jengo, Sam & Partners said Gevao’s September 23 response appeared to address an issue that was not raised in their earlier correspondence.
The lawyers clarified that their original letter was not concerned with Tarawally’s eligibility to present himself as an SLPP flagbearer aspirant, but rather with his membership of the party.
According to the legal team, Gevao had, in a letter circulated on social media, stated that Tarawally held dual membership of the SLPP and the Citizens Democratic Party (CDP), and was therefore not a member of the SLPP.
Tarawally’s lawyers questioned the basis and process through which the alleged decision was made, claiming that their client was declared to have lost his SLPP membership without a complaint, hearing, disciplinary procedure or decision by the party’s National Executive Council.
They further challenged the reliance on a letter from an official of the Citizens Democratic Party, noting that the CDP leadership had subsequently publicly repudiated the contents of that letter.
The lawyers said Gevao’s response did not address the specific issues raised in their earlier letter, including whether he had acted alone, what provision of the SLPP Constitution empowered him to take such action, and whether the allegation of dual party membership would be retracted.
“We therefore take it that your client has no answer to the question actually raised,” the lawyers stated.
The legal team maintained that the demands contained in their September 20, 2026 letter remain in effect and that the time given for compliance still stands.
They further stated that once the deadline expires, they will proceed with the actions outlined in their earlier correspondence without further notice, while reserving all of Tarawally’s rights.
