Chief Executive Officer of National Ebola Response Centre has categorically dismissed a newspaper report that he wants to be APC flag-bearer.

Rtd. Major Alfred Palo Conteh said that this particular time people should be talking about the post-ebola programmes that will lift the country from the shackles of ebola and not of talking about flag-bearer, adding, “currently, we have a president who is in that seat till 2018, and instead of all of us rallying round him to push the country to another level, people seat and formulate stories that are not true and that can cause disrepute in the country.”

The CEO said he is still working at NERC and is waiting for his boss the President to give him his next assignment or kick him out, noting, “I have never discussed with anyone that I want to be President and has even criticised those who have come out talking about replacing President Ernest Bai Koroma when there is a lot of job to be done”.

Rtd. Maj. Palo Conteh averred that he has just finished the ebola battle and celebrating in his little corner and the media came out with such a libelous report spoiling his Wednesday, “I am not happy and I have never granted any such interview, even when journalists were attending the NERC’s Wednesday’s press briefing and joking that they want to organise a whatsapp page called ‘Friends of Palo Conteh’ for me, I always tell them they should not, because it will lead to another thing that might not augur well with the public.”

He said elections are far away and the present condition is to get the country back to its right footing as the e flood victims are around and government is looking out to get them relocated, the economy is facing challenges that the ebola caused, the road construction almost came to a halt. All these are of importance to the government not who is going to replace President Ernest Bai Koroma.

Talking about the Athletics elections this weekend, he said he will be going to Makeni to win and to help restructure the association that was once prolific in Sierra Leone, stating, “I have been an Athlete and I still hold the 200 and 400 meters record and I want athletes to broke those records now. I will do all my best to make the association become viable and make sure that it is taken to the schools where we can get very good athletes from.”

Palo Conteh said he is confident of victory and he hopes to reunite the sporting family and Sierra Leone to start producing good athletes in most of the disciplines in the country.
