A Sierra Leonean man identified as Michael Mansaray who received intimidation by the ruling Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) for praising former President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma on developmental projects in Bo District on a video has been rescued by the 2023 presidential aspirant, Dr. Richard Konteh.

Michael Mansaray is a father of two children who did a video and praised former President Koroma that he took developmental projects to Bo district by constructing Bo Mini Stadium, roads and electricity on 27th April 2021. According to Michael, after releasing the video, he was arrested on 28th April 2021 and taken to police station where he received intimidation and torturing. He was sentenced to eight (8) months imprisonment.

Since his released from prison on 11th November, Michael has been receiving intimidation from the ruling SLPP government. According to Michael, he received information that SLPP supporters have planned to take him to the bush in the name of initiation so that they can kill him. He said after getting that news, he went to the Chief and made a formal statement. The following day, large number of people came to him and asked him to follow them to the bush for initiation. He was forcefully tied, carried on a motorbike and taken to a strange place where he was able to escape.

After the lucky escape, he made another video and asked for help from Sierra Leoneans to rescue his life from danger. The 2023 All People’s Congress (APC) party aspirant, Dr. Richard Konteh stepped in to rescue Michael Mansaray where he invited him and his family to stay with him in Freetown and start a new life.
