Sumah Edges Gbondo in Close APC Port Loko District Leadership Contest
Alie Sumah has won the All People’s Congress district chairperson election in Port Loko with 71 votes, defeating Mohamed Gbondo by five votes in the party’s October 2026 internal polls.
According to the results provided, Gbondo finished second with 66 votes, while Abdul Karim Kamara received 45 and Abdel Karim Dandas secured 27.
The narrow margin between the top two candidates highlights the competitive nature of the contest, which involved four contenders seeking to lead the APC’s district organisation.
In a separate contest, rapper and politician Natasha Beckley lost her bid for deputy district chairperson.
Beckley acknowledged the delegates who supported her in a Facebook post following the election. She said she intended to visit them personally to express her gratitude and indicated that she would continue her political activities.
Her message emphasised her determination to remain engaged despite the electoral setback.
The elections form part of the APC’s internal process for selecting district-level officials. Sumah’s victory positions him to lead the party’s district organisation, subject to any applicable confirmation or internal procedures.
