Two bye elections were held yesterday in the country, one in Kailahun district in the East and the other in Koya, Port Loko District in the North–West. As proven by the preliminary results, the SLPP did extremely well by increasing their votes in both the bye elections held yesterday.

Analysis:

In constituency 005 in Kailahun District, the SLPP secured 77% in the 2018 general elections and the APC polled about 3.95 votes. Yesterday’s election saw percentage increments by both parties in 005. The SLPP from 77% to now 86%, and the APC too increased its votes from 3.95% to 14%.

It is said that the independent candidate who contested the 2018 Parliamentary election for constituency 005 seat had his aggrieved supporters give their support to the APC candidate in yesterday’s bye election.

Now to Koya in the Port Loko District. The SLPP secured 27% in the 2018 general election as against the APC who got 62%. Yesterday’s election saw a dramatic change, where the SLPP increased its votes from 27% to 40%, whilst the APC which secured 62% in the 2018 general elections dropped to 58%.

In conclusion, the bye elections held yesterday in constituency 005 Kailahun District and constituency 073 Koya, Port Loko District show the SLPP keeps increasing its votes nationwide. The SLPP is by no doubt the most popular political party in Sierra Leone. If elections are always held in free and fair ways, then the SLPP is always sure of winning.

The bye elections results imply the citizenry accept President Bio’s New Direction Policies and Agendas, and its unbiased development across all regions.
