The Presidential Candidate of the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC), Dr. Samura Kamara said weeks ago that the SLPP Government will not be in power after June 24.

Time is up for the SLPP government because, by June 25, I shall have been elected president,” Kamara said in an interview with Sierraeye.

The APC Presidential Candidate’s stance has changed recently with regards the election.

Kamara on Wednesday afternoon called on the Chief Electoral Commissioner and other commissioners of the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) to resign in three days.

In his address, he made his lack of trust for the Commission apparent by calling on a neutral body to oversee some of the operations of the ECSL.

The ECSL boss, Mohamed Kenewui Konneh affirmed their commitment to hold the elections as planned.

We will not resign,” Konneh told election observers at the Bintumani Conference centre hours after the APC ultimatum.

Sierra Leone will go to the polls on 24 June in a multitier election.

Tensions from the two main political parties are already high as campaigns draw closer to the end.
