The incumbent candidate for the Freetown Mayoral Election, Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr has thrown a hint at one of her main opposition, the ruling SLPP’s Candidate Mohamed Gento Kamara.
“There is someone that was nurtured by the APC going around making distributions in mosques. I want you to know that that is the country’s money and not the person,” Aki-Sawyerr said.
A large portion of the public deduced that the former Mayor was indirectly referring to his opponent, Gento.
She admonished APC supporters not to give in to the strategy of Gento and ensure that they vote for APC at both district and ward levels.
Aki-Sawyerr educated APC supporters at Attouga Mini Stadium on how to vote in the 24 June elections.
Recently, there has been no love lost between the incumbent Aki-Sawyerr and the main opposition Gento.
The latter, about a fortnight ago, was recorded to have made religious and tribal messages that a large number of locals classed as bigotry.
Gento, in the video, claimed that Aki-Sawyerr and some other senior staff of hers were tribalists and religiously biased. He said that that was the reason he wanted to contest for the capital city’s top job.
