Sierra Leone’s Leone Stars may host the Super Eagles of Nigeria in Monrovia Liberia in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers scheduled for next month (June 2023).

The match according to sources is likely to be played at the refurbished Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Monrovia.

The newly refurbished sports complex has a sitting capacity of 22,000 and serves as one of the best in the country with traces of international standards from all indications.

The stadium is reported to have recently hosted Liberia’s 2023 AFCON Qualifiers match day-four tie between Lone Stars and the Bafana Bafana which ended in a 2-1 defeat to the Lone Stars of Liberia.

This came by after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) rejected the proposal to host the match at the newly constructed Southern Arena Stadium in Bo City by the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA).

According to reports, the decision of CAF to reject the proposal from SLFA was due to the insufficient number of standard hotels in the country’s second largest city.
