Sierra Leone international Abu Dumbuya and his Al Jeel teammates face an immediate test of character on Thursday, seeking their first points of the Saudi First Division season away to Al Jabalain.

The 4:20 p.m. kickoff at Prince Abdul Aziz bin Musa’ed Stadium comes three days after Al Jeel opened its 2026/27 campaign with a 2-0 home loss to Al Zulfi SC on Aug. 21. Dumbuya started that match.

Al Jabalain also lost its opener, falling 3-1 at Al Ula FC on Aug. 24. The hosts finished sixth in the division last season with 59 points from 34 matches.

Dumbuya, a 27-year-old defensive midfielder born in Freetown, has earned 18 caps for Sierra Leone and was named in the Leone Stars squad for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations. He joined Al Jeel after previous spells with Finnish club AC Oulu and Libyan side Al Wefaq.

The two sides have met five times previously in the First Division, with Al Jabalain winning two, Al Jeel winning none, and three draws. Their last encounter, in May 2022, finished 2-2.

Al Jeel’s next fixture is at home against Jeddah Club on Sept. 1.
