Sierra Leone’s maiden Female Premier League Champions, Mogbwemo Queens have started early preparations ahead of the CAF Women’s Champions League.

The Rutile-based club has started intensive training at the Koidu Community Field before the preliminary rounds of the CAF Competition.

Mogbwemo will represent Sierra Leone after winning the country’s first ever top tier female competition in March.

The club won the competition after securing their 55th point by defeating Correctional Service by a goal to nil. The team remarkably conceded only 14 goals.

The Chief Executive of the club told NewsFeed Sierra Leone that the club began their early preparations after passing CAF club licence requirement. He added that the club will spend the next four weeks in Kono before heading for Liberia in July for their first match.

“We are expecting other players and new players to join the club,” Tondoneh told NewsFeed.

The 2022 edition of the competition was hosted in Morocco which was won by Moroccan club AS FAR.

The 2023 edition will be hosted in neighbouring Ivory Coast.
