Sierra Leone Football Association’s (SLFA) proposal to host Nigeria at the newly built Southern Arena Stadium in Bo City, Sierra Leone, has been rejected by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

The decision is reportedly due to the insufficient number of standard hotels in the country’s second-largest city, according to SLFA.

Nigeria’s Super Eagles defeated Sierra Leone 2-1 in the Day 1 encounter of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualification (AFCON) qualifiers at the MKO Abiola Stadium. Sierra Leone is set to face Nigeria in the return leg of the African Qualifiers on Matchday 5 next month.

As a result of the decision, SLFA will need to secure an alternative venue for the match, which is scheduled to take place in June.
