Central Tigers FC emerged as champions with a convincing 3-1 victory over Abour FC last Friday at the Central Park playing ground.
The prestigious pre-season gala, initiated by the Sports and Health Promoters, was notably backed by the newly-appointed chairman of the Port Loko District Football Association, Osman Magic Kabba.
The contest commenced on September 1, with 12 municipal teams vying for the title. The epic culmination saw Central Tigers FC and Abour FC, the final two contenders, facing off amidst a massive gathering of fans and football aficionados.
In the wake of their triumphant win, Alhaji Musa Sesay, captain of Central Tigers and fondly addressed as Thiago Nasri, shared his elation. “Football is about commitment,” he declared. Shedding light on the team’s journey, he extended his gratitude to fellow players and their unwavering fans for their relentless support.

In contrast, Alimamy Alieu Turay, Abour FC’s skipper, harkened back to a previous challenge the team faced at the same venue. Expressing his discontent, Turay noted that some players’ performance didn’t meet the anticipated standard, which he believed contributed to their defeat. Nevertheless, optimistic about the future, he rallied fans and players, assuring them of brighter days ahead.
