Sierra Leone suffered another heavy defeat in the 2026 Africa Continental Cup after Uganda bowled them out for just 55 runs before completing an eight-wicket victory in Kigali, Rwanda, on Tuesday, September 15.
Sierra Leone struggled throughout their innings, reaching 55 all out in 17.4 overs. The Ugandan bowling attack kept the pressure on, with Gerald Olipa claiming three wickets, while Eric Kasaija took two wickets for eight runs.
The Patriots found it difficult to build partnerships, with their batting failing to produce a substantial total. Their 55-run score left Uganda needing only 56 runs for victory.
Uganda made light work of the chase, reaching 56 for two in just seven overs to seal an eight-wicket win with 78 balls remaining. Robinson Obuya scored 20 runs from 22 balls, while Gerald Olipa contributed a quick 21 from nine deliveries.
The victory marked Uganda’s fourth win of the tournament and their second victory over Sierra Leone in the competition. Uganda had previously defeated Sierra Leone by 114 runs earlier in the tournament.
The result further compounds Sierra Leone’s difficult campaign. The Patriots entered the match at the bottom of the standings after suffering five defeats, including a nine-wicket loss to Kenya in their previous outing.
Uganda’s victory puts them among the leading sides in the competition, while Sierra Leone will need a strong response in their remaining matches to recover from another disappointing performance.
