The Government of Sierra Leone through the Ministry of Finance has paid le 3,783,987,412 (three billion seven hundred eighty-three million nine hundred eighty-seven thousand four hundred and twelve) to participants for both the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Tokyo.

The release from the Ministry of Finance informed citizens of the payment and showed how the cash is to be distributed.

“Of this amount, the sum of Le2,464,395,686 and Le1,319,591,726 respect of allowances, accommodation, feeding, and other expenses, including return air tickets for Athletes and officials of both the Olympic and Paralympic Games respectively,” it reads.

PAYMENTS TOWARDS SIERRA LEONE’S PARTICIPATION IN BOTH THE 2020 OLYMPIC AND PARALYMPIC GAMES IN TOKYO, JAPAN

The Ministry of Finance wishes to inform the General Public that Government has
paid the sum of Le3,783,987,412 to the National Sports Authority (NSA) to facilitate Sierra Leone’s participation in the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Tokyo, Japan from 24 July to 9 August and 24th August to 6h September 2021, respectively

of this amount, the sum of Le2,464,395,686 and Le1,319,591,726 respect of allowances, accommodation, feeding, and other expenses, including return air tickets for Athletes and officials of both the Olympic and Paralympic Games respectively.

Whilst it wishes Team Sierra Leone the best of luck in both the Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Ministry of Finance assures the nation of the fullest commitment of the Government to financing the development of prioritized sports in the country.
