Leone Rock Premier League Golden Boot winner Sulaiman S. Kargbo and Best Midfielder of the Season Sheka Sesay have reportedly been left out of the Leone Stars squad for Sierra Leone’s upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Zimbabwe and Equatorial Guinea.

Kargbo, who plays for East End Lions, finished the 2025/26 Leone Rock Premier League season as the league’s leading scorer with 18 goals, earning the Golden Boot award. Sesay was named the league’s Best Midfielder of the Season.

Reports of their omission from head coach Didier Gomez Da Rosa’s squad have circulated on social media, prompting reactions from some football fans who questioned the decision given the players’ performances during the domestic league season.

The reported omission has generated discussion among supporters, particularly over whether their performances in the 2025/26 domestic season warranted inclusion in the national team squad.
