The Former President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), Isha Johansen has payed a one day visit to the Sierra Leone Female Correctional Center in Freetown.

The visit came amidst Speculation of a gender empowerment program supported by The FIFA Foundation looms.

The FIFA Council and CAF Executive Committee Member Isha Johansen paid a second visit to the special women’s correctional Centre yesterday, 15th December, holding meetings with senior Prison Officers. She was later given a tour of the center, including what was originally a helicopter landing pad and which could be  ideal for an outdoor  football recreational facility.

Johansen was also given access to its administrative, logistics and computer room as well as the child friendly nursery room.

In April 2021, FIFA Secretary General Fatma Samoura and Isha Johansen visited the correctional centre both visibly moved by the number of very young female offenders. Samoura made a personal donation of five thousand dollars which the women have put towards the construction of a tailoring factory to produce football jerseys, and other skilled crafts works.

The visit ended with the FIFA Executive member having a communal private chat with the inmates where she shared her personal views and experiences about life, courage, resilience.

Isha Johansen signs a football for three year old Senesie who would be leaving his mother to be fostered in the hope of finding a new family.
