The Former President of Sierra Leone, Ernest Bai Koro has expressed his heart-felt wishes to the Leone Stars squad in Cameroon.

The former president who doubles as the current Chairman of the All peoples Congress Party made the statement on his Twitter Page. In his powerful message, the president cited

“No doubts, the Leone Stars will do us prou at the Cup of Nations Tour@ CAF-online. Coach Kiester,@Kei Kamara & team have done and will do a good Job! Great way to put the nation first-united around the Leone Stars. Best of luck!”

Sierra Leone could not have asked for a tougher start to their first Africa Cup of Nations in a quarter of a century than a match against holders Algeria on Tuesday, but coach John Keister says simply being in Cameroon is a step on the way to making the country competitive again.

Ranked 108th in the world, Sierra Leone twice held Nigeria in qualifying, including coming from 4-0 down to draw 4-4 away, and pipped Benin to secure a berth at the finals.

They will play Algeria, Ivory Coast and Equatorial Guinea in Cameroon and the format is such that one win might be enough to reach the last 16.
