Amidu Karim, head coach of the Sierra Leone national football team, Leone Stars, has stated that he has not received any formal termination letter from the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), despite reports of his dismissal.
Karim also revealed that he and his technical team have not been paid their salaries for over three months.
While credible sources indicated on January 6, 2025, that the SLFA had dismissed the entire technical staff with immediate effect due to underwhelming performances, Karim maintains that no official communication has been received.
He pointed out that his contract stipulated a one-month notice period before termination, which the SLFA has not observed.
On February 4th, 2025, Mohamed Kallon was reportedly confirmed as the new head coach, with Karim reportedly transitioning to manage the home-based team.
Kallon, a former star player for Inter Milan, AS Monaco, and Al-Ittihad, also captained the Sierra Leone national team. He holds a UEFA Pro Licence and has been involved in developing young talent through his club, FC Kallon.
