The Minister of Sports Ibrahim Yelenkeh has revealed to members of the public the expected earning of the Leone Stars team during the AFCON Competition in Cameroon.

After 25 years of absence in the competition, the team is set to make it third appearance in the  Africa Cup of Nations Competition

Appearance fee for each match is $3,000
Match bonus for each draw is $1,500
Match bonus for each win is $4,500
Therefore, they will earn in the following format for each match:
A total of $7,500 per any match won
A total of $4,500 per any match drawn
A total of $3,000 per any match loss
And the above earnings are just for the Group Stages, an increment will happen as they proceed stage by stage,

The Spokesperson of the National Sport Authority, Eric Fomba has stated in an interview that $3,000 have already been disbursed to each player before the team’s departure to Cameroon.

He further cited that President Bio also held private meeting with the players where he made an undisclosed promise to them before they departed the shores of Sierra Leone

Host Cameroon has already defeated Burkina Faso in the Olembe stadium during the opening ceremony of the competition.

All Leone Stars 28 registered players for the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon have also benefited from CAF referee assessor tutorials as he gives video explanations on some critical match situations ahead of the team’s opening match against defending champions Algeria on Tuesday.
The referee assessor’s lecture comes just after CAF presented to the Sierra Leone FA Vice President Harold Nat Johnson a certificate of recognition for Leone Stars’ qualification for the ongoining Nations Cup kicked off on Sunday in Yaounde.

Leone Stars will play their first game  with Algeria on Tuesday 11th January at the Japoma Stadium
