Sierra Leone’s national football team, Leone Stars, secured a 2-0 victory against the “Ocean Stars” of Somalia during their second match in the October international friendlies on October 17, 2023, at Stade Bechir in Casablanca, Morocco.

In the 25th minute, Mohamed Buya Turay scored the first goal for Sierra Leone from a penalty kick. Despite intense competition from both sides, Sierra Leone held onto a 1-0 lead at halftime.

The second half continued to be a tough battle, but the outstanding Mohamed Buya Turay found the net again in the 58th minute, extending Leone Stars’ lead to 2-0.

The victory over Somalia marks a perfect start for the newly appointed Head Coach Amidu Karim, securing his first win with Leone Stars in just two games since taking the reins.

Just three days prior, on Saturday, October 14th, Sierra Leone played to a 1-1 draw against Benin’s Cheetahs in their inaugural match of the October international friendlies.
