Former AC Milan and Leone Stars midfielder Rodney Strasser has expressed his support for Sierra Leone’s national cricket team ahead of its ILT20 Continental Cup match against Uganda in Kigali, Rwanda.
Strasser visited the Sierra Leone cricket squad at the Hilltop Hotel in Kigali on Monday, where he met with players and members of the technical team.
During the visit, Strasser encouraged the team to remain focused, disciplined, and determined as they represent Sierra Leone at the continental tournament. He also made a financial contribution to the squad ahead of its upcoming fixture.
The former Leone Stars midfielder, who was born in Freetown, played internationally for Sierra Leone and spent part of his club career with Italian giants AC Milan, including a loan spell at Lecce.
Sierra Leone is scheduled to face Uganda on Tuesday at the Gahanga International Cricket Stadium in Kigali as part of the ILT20 Continental Cup, which brings together several African nations in Rwanda.
Uganda goes into the match following a strong start to the tournament, having defeated hosts Rwanda by 64 runs.
Strasser’s visit and contribution provide additional support to the national cricket team as the players continue their campaign on the international stage.
