Buya extended his thanks to the coach; John Keister, teammates and critics. He stated that he felt blessed proud and honored to represent Sierra Leone at AFCON.

Leone Stars safely arrived home on 22nd January, 2022 after their exit in the ongoing AFCON tournament in Cameroon. The team exited from the tournament after it was beaten by Equatorial Guinea by one goal.

As one of the key contributors to the team, Mohamed Buya Turay took to Facebook and thanked Sierra Leoneans for the opportunity given to him.

I feel blessed, proud and honored to have represented Sierra Leone at (AFCON) Africa cup of nations (football).

In every game season there are high times and low times. Sierra Leoneans thank you for sticking with us (the team) in victory and in defeat.

To our dear coach, thank you for showing us our potential to be great. Thank you for your rigid training and for continuously believing in us as a team.

To my dear teammates, I have always believed that our team is a force to reckon with. Our strength lies in our unparalleled teamwork and guts to keep fighting for victory

And to criticsI am my own biggest critic. Before anyone else has criticized me, I have already criticized myself.

Therefore, I am going to stop being my own critic. It’s high time that I accept all the great things about me
