For Payment of $25, Sierra Leone Cricket Association Delegation Stranded at Lungi Airport
Morlai Ibrahim Kamara The Sierra Leone Senior Men’s Cricket team aka the Patriots has reportedly stranded at the Lungi Airport for non payment of $25 Airports Fee.
Videos making the rounds on Social media shows stranded players and officials sleeping on the floor and expressing their grievances for refusal of entry to Freetown after their matches in Kigali.
Meanwhile, Sierra Leone won four consecutive victories against Cameroon, Eswatini, Ghana and t the Gambia in the ICC Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup Sub Regional Africa B qualifier in Kigali Rwanda.
Having lost two against Tanzania and Nigeria in the opening Fixtures, the Patriots regrouped and come strong against their opponents in a competitive group B qualifier where 5 West African teams and 3 teams from the Sub Saharan Africa.
The team played their 7 and final match against Mozambique on Friday 9th December 2022.
Sierra Leone earned the 4th spot in the tournament which is Marked as a huge success and improved ICC Men’s T20 Cricket global ranking that will allow them to be part of the All Africa games in Accra and the Africa Premier League
