The crowned Champion of the Sierra Leone’s Innaugural Elite Female Premeir League, Mogbwemo Queens have defeated the Sierra Leone Female All Stars 1-0 at the Koidu town field on Saturday, July 1 2023.

A goal from M. Barrie in the 78th minute was enough for Mogbwemo Queens to secure the win.

The match was a workout for Sierra Leone’s upcoming Olympic qualifiers against Ivory Coast from the 10-18 July 2023 in a doubleheader fashion.

Mogbwemo Queens, having emerged victorious in the recently concluded Sierra Leone Women’s Premier League, have firmly established themselves as a dominant force in women’s football. Their triumph in the inaugural edition not only earned them the prestigious championship title but also secured their representation for Sierra Leone at the upcoming West African Football Union (WAFU-A) Zonal Qualifiers for the 2023 CAF Women’s Champions League.

By clinching the championship, Mogbwemo Queens have joined the ranks of seven other elite women’s football teams across Africa that were crowned champions for the 2022/2023 season. These teams include Disciples from Madagascar, AFAK Relizanne from Algeria, Wadi Degla from Egypt, New Generation from Zanzibar, Kampala Queens from Uganda, and Atletico d’Abidjan from Cote d’Ivoire.
