Sierra Leonean born Real Madrid defender, Antonio Rüdiger has handed a signed Real Madrid jersey to President of The Gambia, Adama Barrow.

The former Chelsea center-back took to his Instagram page to share a picture of him and the country’s president exchanging greetings.

The one-time UEFA Champions League winner posted a picture on his Instagram page where he was seen shaking hands with the president.

After the experience, he wrote on his instagram page, “Thanks to his excellency Mr. President Adama Barrow for the warm welcome during my summer holidays in Gambia, it’s been a pleasure talking to you. All the best for your country and all the lovely people from Gambia.

The 30-year-old former  defender praises the Gambians as lovely people after he arrived in the country.

The player is reportedly in the  country to take part in the launching of a family business on Friday, 7th of July, 2023, after the Spanish La Liga 2022/2023 season came to an end.

As he spent most of his summer vacations in African countries, last year, President of Sierra Leone Dr. Julius Maada Bio pronounced him as ‘Brand Global Sierra Leone Football Ambassador’ and handed him the country’s diplomatic passport, at a ceremony attended by family members, well-wishers and government officials held in State House on Friday 28th January 2022.
