Samuel Conteh Becomes Second Sierra Leonean to Reach 50 Wickets in T20 International Cricket

Sierra Leone pace bowler Samuel Conteh has reached 50 wickets in T20 International cricket, becoming only the second Sierra Leonean player to achieve the milestone.

Conteh reached the landmark on Sunday, September 20, 2026, during Sierra Leone’s ILT20 Continent Cup 2026 match against Botswana. He completed his 50th T20I wicket by dismissing Botswana captain Thatayaone Tshose.

The milestone came in Conteh’s 45th innings in T20I cricket, highlighting his consistency as a key member of Sierra Leone’s bowling attack.

Conteh now joins fellow fast bowler George Sesay as the only Sierra Leonean players to have taken at least 50 T20I wickets. Sesay became the first Sierra Leonean to reach the milestone during the T20 World Cup Africa Sub-Qualifier A in May 2026.

Conteh’s achievement adds to Sierra Leone’s growing presence in international cricket and underlines his contribution to the national team’s bowling strength.
