Shooting Stars Step Up Preparations for WAFU U-20 Championship
Osman Tolo Sesay Sierra Leone’s Shooting Stars are stepping up preparations for the WAFU Zone A U-20 Championship, with the regional tournament offering a route to the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.
The national U-20 team has intensified training as the technical staff works on the squad’s physical conditioning, tactical discipline, coordination and overall match readiness.
The players are also focused on building cohesion as they prepare to compete against some of the region’s top youth teams.
The Shooting Stars are scheduled to travel to Mali on Tuesday to continue their preparations ahead of the tournament.
Sierra Leone will open its campaign against Guinea-Bissau on October 16, 2026, at the Mamadou Konaté Stadium in Bamako.
The tournament represents an important opportunity for the young Leone Stars to secure a place at the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations while competing for regional honors.
With the opening match approaching, the team is expected to maintain its preparations in Mali as it seeks a strong start to its campaign.
