The Sierra Leone Aquatics team has arrived in Glasgow, Scotland, to represent the country at the 2026 Commonwealth Games, as the nation continues to make strides in international sporting competitions.
The delegation, led by Sierra Leone Aquatics Federation President Mohamed Abdul Turay, features a mix of emerging talents and experienced swimmers, reflecting the federation’s commitment to developing athletes and promoting excellence in the sport.
Leading the team is Olympian Elizabeth Olamiday Sam (OLY), who has been appointed captain for the Games. Her experience on the international stage is expected to provide guidance and motivation to her teammates as they prepare for the competition.
The squad includes swimmers Moses Sahr Yongai, Ibrahim Kamara, John Alimamy Samura, and Halle Harris, who will compete under the guidance of Head Coach Gibrilla Kanu Bamba.
Bamba highlighted that the team’s participation goes beyond medal ambitions, describing the Commonwealth Games as an opportunity to demonstrate Sierra Leone’s determination, unity, and growing potential in aquatics.
The Sierra Leone Aquatics Federation said the team’s participation in Glasgow represents an important step in raising the country’s profile in swimming and inspiring young athletes to pursue careers in sport.
