Sierra Leone’s U-17 national team, the Sierra Stars, have commenced preparations for the upcoming WAFU-A U-17 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in Senegal.
Preparations began with regional trials involving all five regional football associations, which participated in identifying promising young talents from across the country. The trials were organised by the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) Technical Department as part of efforts to assemble a competitive squad for the qualifiers.
Following the completion of the regional talent identification exercise, the selected players have now assembled to begin training ahead of the tournament.
Sierra Leone have been drawn in Group A alongside hosts Senegal, Mauritania and The Gambia.
The WAFU-A U-17 tournament is scheduled to take place in Senegal from September 7 to 20, 2026, with participating teams competing for qualification to the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Sierra Stars will now intensify their preparations as they aim to make a strong showing at the regional tournament and secure qualification for the continental finals.
