The president of the Sierra Leone Cricket Association Francis Trevor Samura has officially confirmed that the Young Patriots of Sierra Leone have qualified for the ICC U19 Division 1 Qualifier slated for March, 2023 in Windhoek, Namibia.

His confirmation was posted on the Sierra Leone Cricket Association Facebook Page. President Samura stated that “I can authoritatively confirm as Chairman Board of Directors Sierra Leone Cricket Association that the Sierra Leone U19 national Men’s Cricket team has qualified to the ICC Africa Division 1 U19 Cricket World Cup Qualifier slated for March 2023 in Windhoek Namibia. Congratulations to the team, my thanks and appreciation to all those who in diverse ways supported the team to secure this important and strategic qualification and promotion. God bless SLCA and God bless Sierra Leone,“

The Sierra Leone U-19 team has arrived in Freetown to continue with their preparations ahead of the 2023 Division 1 qualifiers. The Young Patriots were led by their outstanding Captain John Bangura in all their matches.

Meanwhile, Kenya emerged as the winner of the Just concluded U-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup Africa Division 2 qualifiers after defeating Nigeria in the finals at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja Pitch A.
