The Sierra Leonean national women’s football team, the Sierra Queens, have been eliminated from the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifiers following a heavy 5-2 aggregate defeat to Benin’s Amazons.
The decisive match, held in Monrovia, saw the Amazons dominate, extinguishing the Sierra Queens’ hopes of reaching the prestigious tournament.
The result leaves the Sierra Queens with a disappointing exit from the qualifying campaign.
Following the match, the Sierra Queens are scheduled to return to Sierra Leone on Tuesday. The team will now look to regroup and focus on future competitions.
