The Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) is organizing a three-day Athletics Competition under the Distinguished Grand Chief Patronage of His Excellency the President and Commander-in-Chief of RSLAF, Brigadier General (Retired) Dr Julius Maada Bio.

WHEN: From Thursday, 12th May 2022 to Saturday, 14th May, 2022.

WHERE: At the Bo Mini Stadium in Bo City.

WHO: Six teams across the Armed Forces will take part in the competition. The teams include Force Troops (Yellow), Joint Support Units (Red), 2 Infantry Brigade (Mauve), 3 Infantry Brigade (Green), 4 Infantry Brigade (Orange) and 5 Infantry Brigade (Blue).

In the Invitation Relay, the SLP will compete with other security sector, institutions and telecommunication service providers. The Bo School will also race with Christ the King College and four other schools in Bo City.

WHY: Among other objectives, this competition is organized to promote good civil-military relationship and to identify athletics talents for the first-ever Inter-Force Sports Competition, which will be organized by the National Sports Authority. “Apart from the upcoming Inter-Force Sports Competition, in a not-too-distant future, RSLAF will also compete with other armed forces in Africa in sports competition to be organized by Organization of Military Sports in Africa (OSMA). So, there is need to start building a sober athletics team in earnest”, the RSLAF Training Chief, Lieutenant Colonel Yusuf Bilal Mahuloh disclosed.
