The Board and Management of the Sierra Leone Cricket Association-(SLCA) issued a press release today,12th December 2022, expressing serious concern over the behaviour exhibited by its players at the Freetown International Airport in Lungi on Sunday 11th December 2022.

The team travelled safely from Rwanda and landed Home from the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup sub-regional Africa B Qualifier in Kigali Rwanda from 30th November to 10th December 2022.

The Board and Management of the Sierra Leone Cricket Association stated that they take great exception to the content of the video going viral and tendered a formal apology to the government of Sierra Leone through the National Sports Authority (NSA) and the Ministry of Sport.

The release confirmed that Government has been a reliable partner and the biggest financier of Sport
development, and has done well in that direction over the years.

“We are aware of the players’ frustration, but such unacceptable action contradicts Cricket’s traditional values, including the spirit of Cricket. The Board has been in constructive engagement with government through the (NSA), Ministry of Sport, and the leader of government business in parliament, and the government is doing everything possible to get funds disbursed to Cricket.” the release states

Meanwhile, SLCA promises to investigate the matter and punish all those who instigated the said act.
