The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has announced the completion of a One Hundred Thousand New Leones (NLe100,000) payment to the family of the late Bureh Ganso Koroma, a former player of Mighty Blackpool FC.
The total amount comprises NLe75,000 from the SLFA and NLe25,000 contributed by Mighty Blackpool FC.
According to the SLFA, Mighty Blackpool FC paid its NLe25,000 contribution into the Association’s account on 13 March 2026. However, due to an administrative omission, the club’s contribution was not captured in the initial payment arrangement made for the bereaved family.
The Association has acknowledged the omission and expressed its sincere regret, accepting full responsibility for the delay. It said it has now ensured that the full NLe100,000 has been paid to the family.
The payment fulfils the recommendations of the Ad Hoc Committee established by the SLFA Executive Committee to investigate concerns surrounding the circumstances that led to the death of the late player.
The SLFA also expressed appreciation to Mighty Blackpool FC for its contribution and cooperation, while extending its deepest condolences once again to the family of the late Bureh Ganso Koroma.
