Sierra Leone Football Association has today released condolences message over the death of former Leone Stars Striker, Lamin Conteh who is fondly called Junior Tumbu.

According to the Head of Media and Marketing – SLFA, it is with regret to the Sierra Leone Football Association to receive such a distressful news of the sudden death of a legend in the Sierra Leone football history.

According to reliable sources, the death of Lamin Conteh, popularly known as Junior Tumbu, event took place in the early hours of today, Thursday, May 5, 2022, in Kenema City.

Junior Tumbu was Sierra Leone’s national team most fierce dribbler and whenever you think of dribbling, you think of Junior Tumbu. He served the Leone Stars National Team from 1006 to 2002. He served Sierra Leone diligently both as a football player and a Technical Support Staff attached to Leone Stars during the past AFCON 2021. According to Sierra Leone Football Association, the former Leone Stars Captain will not only be forever remembered within Sierra Leone football but also across the continent of Africa.

The President, Thomas Daddy Brima, His Executive Committee, staff and members of the football fraternity express their heartfelt condolences to the entire Conteh Family and friends. We pray that the family gains the strength and courage to overcome their moments of extreme grief.
