SLFA Ad Hoc Committee Submits Report on Death of Ex-Blackpool Star Bureh G Koroma
Aaron Parker The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has received the official report from its Ad Hoc Committee investigating the death of former Blackpool footballer, Bureh G Koroma. The committee formally submitted its findings to the SLFA Executive Committee on Thursday.
The report outlines the key causes and contributing factors surrounding Koroma’s untimely death, while recommending steps to support his family and prevent future challenges within Sierra Leonean football.
Support for Koroma’s Family
The committee urged the SLFA to provide a one-time financial contribution of Le 50,000 (50 million old Leone) to assist with the education of Koroma’s two children. In addition, Mighty Blackpool Football Club has been encouraged to provide a one-off payment of Le 25,000 (25 million old Leone) to support the children’s schooling.
Stakeholder Engagement
The report also recommends that the SLFA coordinate a round-table dialogue with the National Sports Authority (NSA) and the Ministry of Sports (MOS) to develop a binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The MoU will clearly define the roles and responsibilities of all stakeholders and serve as a framework to prevent conflicts and improve collaboration within the football and sports community.
