The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) will launch the country’s first-ever Women’s Football Strategy from October 28 to 30, 2026, in Freetown, as part of efforts to strengthen the administration and development of women’s football.

The launch, scheduled to take place at the Freetown City Council Building, will be followed by a three-day capacity-building workshop for women’s football administrators, with support from FIFA.

The initiative aims to improve the management and governance of women’s football, increase participation, and create sustainable opportunities for women and girls across Sierra Leone.

SLFA President Babadi Kamara and Women’s Football Manager Elizabeth Kailey are leading the initiative, which seeks to establish a stronger institutional foundation for the long-term growth of the women’s game.

The accompanying workshop will equip women’s football administrators with practical knowledge and skills in management, planning, governance, and the effective implementation of football programmes.

The strategy forms part of the SLFA’s broader efforts to build a more structured and inclusive football system while aligning the country’s women’s football development priorities with international initiatives.

Once launched, the strategy is expected to provide a framework for guiding future programmes, strengthening administrative structures, and expanding opportunities for women and girls to participate in football across the country.
