SLPHA Edges Office of the President With Late Header in Inter-MDA Tournament
Osman Tolo Sesay The Sierra Leone Ports and Harbours Authority (SLPHA) defeated the Office of the President 1-0 in the Inter-Ministerial, Departments and Agencies (Inter-MDA) Football Tournament after Umar Mansaray scored a decisive header in the 84th minute.
The Group E match was played at the National Stadium Practicing Field, where both teams battled through a closely contested encounter before SLPHA found the breakthrough late in the game.
Mansaray converted a corner kick with a powerful header, ending the deadlock and giving SLPHA the lead with six minutes remaining in regulation time. The Authority then held on to preserve its advantage and secure all three points.
SLPHA Director General Yankuba Askia Bio captained the team, leading the Authority’s staff in the competition, which brings together teams from ministries, departments and agencies.
The victory provides a boost to SLPHA’s campaign as the team prepares for its next Group E fixture against the Ministry of Health on Thursday, Oct. 29, 2026.
